Working Together to Create Period Equality

Period poverty affects a large proportion of the population, with 1 in 14 girls* saying they have missed school as they could not afford or access period products.

The scheme’s aim is to ensure girls can access a variety of free period products at school when they are needed, tackling period related school absence and the subsequent detrimental impact on academic achievement, and removing the stigma around talking about periods.

Schools and colleges can order period products that are funded by the Dept of Education to be delivered by PHS which they can then distribute accordingly to those in need.

DCS alongside P&G have been working with PHS and the Department of Education to create period equality. Together we have shipped over 3 million units of Always and Tampax period products into schools and colleges since the scheme began in late 2019.
